Vance’s Resort Outrigger Excursion

After a hiatus in 2024, our Outrigger Excursion Camp to Vance’s Resort is returning in the fall of 2025!

In the fall of 2021, during the final days of COVID, we decided to take on a new adventure and brought 35 paddlers and their outriggers to Northen Ontario. Over the course of a 2.5 days, we paddled over 70kms of the Spanish River and the North Channel of Lake Huron, all while enjoying the peace and serenity that is Northern Ontario.

What’s new for 2025?

In 2025, we have slightly changed the camp concept and will divide our camp into two separate groups:

High-Performance Camp, September 6th – 9th, 2025

  • The High-Performance Camp is designed for experienced, competitive dragon boat and outrigger paddlers
  • This camp will focus on a variety of skill developing paddles, including a long paddle (24km), short sprints, technique sessions and more
  • Participants must have previous outrigger experience and must be comfortable paddling on large bodies of water

$425.00 – bring your own boat!

$525.00 – we transport and provide you with a boat!

$300.00 – you just want to come and won’t be paddling!

High-Performance Registration

Recreational Camp, September 10th – 13th, 2025

  • The Recreational Camp is designed for beginner and intermediate dragon boat and outrigger paddlers, as well as those who enjoy long paddles in leisure kayaks
  • This camp will still focus on a variety of development paddles, including 2 long paddles (10km), a technique session, a happy-hour float, and more
  • Participants can paddle an outrigger, a kayak or a canoe, but must be comfortable paddling on large bodies of water. Some previous experience is preferred

Vance’s Resort

Vance's Resort is located on the Spanish River Delta, in the tiny town of Spanish, Ontario. Located approximately 6-hours North of the GTA, this location is the perfect place to spend the fall.

The resort itself is an old-style fishing camp that has been in operation for over 60 years, and was purchased by Katy’s parents in 2019. After going through a number of upgrades and renovations, the resort continues to operate each year throughout the fishing season, and now welcomes a group of misfit paddlers for one-week each fall.

The camp is made up of 14 cabins, and each cabin is different and quirky in its own way. The resort provides all bed linens and pillows, and each cabin comes fully equipped with a hearty kitchen, living space, private washroom and complimentary WIFI. Participants can also take advantage of the on-site sauna, the screened in gazebo, and the stunning daily sunsets.

Participants are required to bring their own food/drinks, as well as personal towels for both the bathroom and kitchen.
